Some dancers became emotional as they took their final bows.

The second dance concert of the 2023-2024 school year, “Adventure of a Lifetime” showcased dances that the dance classes learned over the past couple of months. The “Adventure of a Lifetime” show was held at Kennedy High School Performing Arts Center and had a full audience on Thursday, 4/18, and Friday 4/19 night.

Juliana Dubois (lft.) and Advanced Dance showed amazing skills!

Mrs. Kerri Fenton talked about how she finds ideas for the theme of the show. “I let students choose…We have a class discussion and we decide and I am super inspired or they are like ‘I want to do this’ so I let the kids decide.”

Many dances that students danced to in this show included popular songs such as,  Into the Unknown,”  “Pure Honey,”  “Better Place,” “Waterloo,” “On the Dance Floor,” and “Born This Way.” Many of the songs performed in this show represented events one experienced throughout.

Mrs. Fenton gave a heartfelt speech to the audience and her dancers.

Most dance students performed on stage for the second time this school year. This show was very emotional for the seniors who performed together for the last time. Senior Sofia Trotz said, “…this was our last show and it represented the end of our high school career.” All the seniors who performed at this show danced with each other for nearly all four years of their time here at Cypress. “… this year there was something about how close we’ve been and how we grew in the past years with each other,” senior Savanna Mzuri said.

Mrs. Fenton loves all her students and puts all her effort into ensuring the show looks great. “The hardest part for me is that I just want it to be so perfect for the students so I put a lot of pressure on myself to make sure everything is just exactly right cause I just want the best experience for my students,” Mrs. Fenton said. The dance classes worked hard to make this show an amazing experience.
