For the girls, four placed in CIF. Jeszika Spraglin 4th, Vida Beckel 2nd, Ariel Penaloza 3rd, Keye Osede 3rd. Beckel also placed 2nd in Masters so she will be heading up to state. She says, “State is like any other tournament, just a harder one. I’m glad I get to experience it.”

On Feb 22, 2023, Beckel defeated the #1 ranked wrestler in State in overtime 7-5. She finished 2nd in her weight class.  This marks the first time in Cypress wrestling history that a wrestler placed at State.  Throughout her wrestling career, Beckel’s work ethic has grown significantly. “The people I met and the coaches really pushed my work ethic to make it better than it was before,” she says.

Cypress is proud of their student athletes for bringing in a successful wrestling season.
