FBLA or Future Business Leaders of America is a club for students who want to better prepare themselves for the business world. They learn and compete in conferences that fall into three different categories: individual, team, and chapter. There are a lot of events you can participate in ranging from Broadcast Journalism to Graphic Design.

Every club needs an adviser and FBLA is no different. Mr. Jay King is the adviser for Cypress’ FBLA and has been for over ten years. He tries to “set these students up for success.”  For the last ten years, Cypress has placed eight times. King said, “I’m just here to help students do what they want to do.”

Cypress High School FBLA’s most recent achievements were in 2022, in Intro to Event Planning, they got 7th place in the nation. In 2021, in Intro to Public Speaking, they placed 3rd in California. Finally in 2020, in Economics, they got FIRST in the NATION.

Co-President Adrian Lau said, “I organize different club meetings and find scholarship and internship opportunities for my club members to better prepare them for the business world” He also said FBLA helps students compete among others in not only California, but also the nation. Lastly he pointed out, “It helps us be more successful in the business industry.”

Second Co-President Omkar Katre believes that FBLA is a unique, fun club. He says, “anything having to do with business is something we can compete in. That’s why I love FBLA because it is so diverse.”
