Spring break is right around the corner on March 22 – 28. Many students here at Cypress High School are very excited for this week-long break. Some might go out of town, others will stay cozy in their homes.
“I’m excited for spring break!” said freshman Aisha Vahed. “I will be going to Dallas, Texas! I love traveling and being in the airplane. After a few days, I’m coming back home to celebrate my friend’s birthday.” Vahed emphasizes being hyped up for all the fun you can have because school isn’t in session.
“I feel amazing, and I’m so excited!” exclaimed freshman Kamryn O’Gara. “I’m looking forward to hanging out with my friends and taking a break from school.”

During break, lots of people cherish this time as much as possible. This is because spring break shows that we are very close to the end of the school year. That means it’s almost time to get back to work, prepare for finals, and many assignments. One of them is the AUHSD Film Festival that happens after break.
Senior Sarah Alakkoud expressed how excited she is. “I am planning on a hangout with my friends, maybe going to the beach, and a few hikes. I also have prelims for indoor drumline!”

Aside from students, the staff is excited for the break too. Since the start of January 2026, Cypress High School has a new food service manager, Andy Gallegos. From the start, many students enjoyed her enthusiasm during lunchtime. “I feel great, actually. Looking forward to getting lots of rest.” Gallegos talks about how busy, yet productive, it’s been. “We’ve been implementing new ideas to make the lines move more smoothly and faster for the students. We will also be starting an à la carte food cart next week!”
Lots of students and staff spend their break by having fun, relaxing, or being productive. Spring break is a time to recharge and refresh your mind to finish off the school year with all the exams and projects. Soon enough, summer will be around the corner.
