It is winter in California and people are dressing for it. This time of year, layering clothes becomes more comfortable, dressing in sweats and hoodies becomes more common, and it becomes harder to keep the puffed-up look at bay without compromising warmth.

For the people who adore skirts yet find themselves reluctant to wear them in the winter, a pair of fleece-lined tights or warm leggings is your holy grail. The people who enjoy wearing stylish tight shirts can make the outfits catered to the winter by pairing them with warm layers over. Coats, sweaters, cardigans, and also jackets will help with this, and popular fabrics to wear tend to be those that are wool, fleece, silk, velvet, and faux fur, with microfibers or sherpa/fleece for the inside layers. For the sake of layers, perhaps a shapewear suit would help as well. According to Senior Airica Leung, during the winter she has a variety of styles. She said that sometimes she dresses “really warmly with stockings. Sometimes I don’t…honestly, it depends on the California weather. Some tips that I have: wear what you want and experiment with a lot of things. It took me a really long time to find a style that I liked.”
Charlee del Bello, Cypress senior, told journalism, “I love to wear jeans because they are cozy and

comfortable during cool weather and a crew neck or a jacket to keep me warm.”
Because it isn’t overly freezing, flexibility is possible when styling outfits for winter. Jeans, loose or not, are permissible in the weather. You can accessorize your outfits as well, stack jewelry, wear belts, bows, scarves, and other items. According to Airica’s sister, Airlia Leung, a tip that she has would be to “wear jewelry,” and also mentioned where she likes to buy her things, saying, “I like to buy my stuff off of Cerritos Mall.” A point made here would be to shop in local areas, in the malls and pop-up shops nearby.
You’ll find students walking around campus with these outfits, with some people wearing intricate jewelry and sometimes dyed hair. Bright and muted colors alike are common in the quad during lunch break. Hoop earrings, nose rings, septum piercings, and sometimes even tattoos can be seen on the students here at Cypress.
Claris Shin, a junior, sports ear piercings and likes wearing a “new knit quarter zip sweater during winter… [she suggests] to wear it with your hair down to keep yourself warmer and wear black pants.”
Wearing black pants has a well-known advantage in the wintertime. Because black absorbs sunlight, it would also make it easier to stay warm. This, paired with the other tips for styling your winter clothes, would come in handy.
