The Cypress High School wrestling team is ready for the Mann Classic.

Winter has arrived, which means the wrestling team’s season is also starting. Even though the season has just begun, the team has been conditioning and working out since the summer. The team is working on new moves while solidifying old ones.

They will be trying their hardest for the upcoming season. The duals and tournaments will be a nice challenge. The closest tournament was the Mann Classic on December 9, 2022. Three people were in the top eight of their weight class. Those three people were Jimmy Romero, Vince Partington, and Andy Perez.

The person who makes this all happen is wrestling Coach Jon Lundberg. He helps the wrestling team with everything, not just the moves.  He says, “It’s great seeing guys and gals develop into wrestlers and people.”

Everyone in wrestling is a family. They stick together and help each other improve and grow. Wrestling may seem daunting at first, but Captain Andy Perez says “Give it a shot. It’s not too hard, but be ready for a long journey.”
