The CHS Varsity and Junior Varsity girl’s soccer teams have been practicing to play against their rival schools.

On January 21, 2022, the varsity played at home against Tustin, winning the conference game 6-1. The same week, the JV team played against Pacifica on January 19, 2021. This was a home conference game and they tied with a score of 0-0.

Preparing for the season takes a lot of work. Before and after the game, all the players usually stretch and run around the perimeter as a warm up.

The players on the soccer team, speaking during practice, agreed that during the game, something that all the players have to work on is trust. Trusting teammates and passing the ball to them is an essential part of the game, and it was where most of them struggled early in the season. As a solution, they work on bonding as a team.

Freshman JV attack mid player Melinda Baltazar said, “To calm down, I remind myself to just play the game that I know how to play.” Baltazar’s advice to future players is to be confident and work on getting to know team members before the season, to get comfortable.
