Cypress High School FBLA
April 21, 2021
Cypress High School’s FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America, club recently competed at the State tournament, winning multiple awards!
Co president, Senior, Pulkit Goyal stated, “Even with it being online, we’re doing really well. The fact that we sent 13-14 people to State… I’m pretty happy about that. I recommend everyone to join FBLA, you’ll meet tons of new people and it’s a great opportunity to travel and hang out. It’s not just about business, there’s a lot about economics, law, politics, journalism, and even more. It’s also a great way to get connections and talk to people.”
Although it was online, servers like Discord and Instagram have become a place to organize online gatherings and game nights for more bonding or for extra practice. Cypress High School’s team has done exceptionally well at State.
Ye Ji Jong, Junior, Vice President of FBLA, won 6th place in Political Science at State.
She stated, “I’m pretty satisfied. Political science, especially in California, is super competitive. There were like 80 people and I didn’t expect much. I think it being online, even though I couldn’t travel, made it more comfortable and cheap. I’m still happy with this year despite it being online. I hope next year, it’s safe enough to go back.”
Ryan Goodman, Co-President, Senior, stated, “People think people in FBLA are stuck up, but we’re all here to have a good time to socialize with new people. I think people think we’re try-hards but that’s not the case. Of course, there’s a select few, but that’s with every activity. Honestly all of us love socializing and talking. I wish i competed in more events, but in general I wish I joined earlier”
Goyal added, “The main point of FBLA is to broaden your knowledge about business, laws, public speaking, leadership, and/or the economy but don’t take it too seriously and have fun. There’s lots of strong competitors and a good chance to go to Nationals. I just hope we make Krish, the former president, proud.”
Great job FBLA and good luck at nationals!
