Pumpkin Spice Latte is back in season.

After the hot steamy weather, Centurions are welcoming fall to campus with its chilly weather and rainy days. It means that the pumpkin spice latte is back in season along with sweaters and candles.

Our Question is: Is it worth the hype?

Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf each serve Pumpkin Spice Latte in each of their flavors.

Starbucks press says, “the handcrafted beverage combines Starbucks Signature Espresso and steamed milk with flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove to complement the real pumpkin in the sauce.” Prices range from $5.25-$5.95.

Similar to Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf also serves Pumpkin Lattes:

“The perfect blend of spicy chai and creamy pumpkin flavors, topped off with maple crunchlets, creates this ultimate autumn beverage,” says the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Prices range from $4.95-6.15, having a bigger price gap than Starbucks.

Jayden K., a freshman at Cypress, said, “It’s not really pumpkin, but it’s rather more caffeine. It’s really really sweet.”

With Jayden, Lisa, our high school security, said, “I haven’t heard of something called Pumpkin Spice Latte.”

Overall, we conclude that the hype of pumpkin spice latte does not exist at Cypress High School.

With its strong flavoring that lasts a long time, students and staff find the experience rather unpleasant, or not attractive at all.

Instead of Pumpkin Spice Latte, our survey of students through Instagram showed drinks like Matcha Tea Latte, Mango Dragon Fruit, and Pink Drinks are preferred among students.

Before autumn ends, how about trying different drinks to see which one you like as your seasonal drink?
