Cypress High School’s Varsity softball team won against Desert Vista, on Saturday March 3rd. They won with a score of 1-0, but in their most recent game against Kennedy High School on March 15, they sadly lost with a score of 9-0. Varsity started their season off with a win against Walnut High School, with a score of 4-1. Coach Kevin Dull said,” We’ve had some ups and downs so far, but we’ve had a difficult schedule and we’re in Division 1 which is the highest division.” Even though the Cypress softball team has a difficult schedule of 12 games already played and 11 upcoming games, has a 5-7 overall and is second in the Empire League.

Dull says,” we’ve been in D1 for the last three years, and we’re in CIF southern section one is the most competitive section there is, so we’re playing some really good teams.” It is difficult to stay in division one and stay there because CIF is always changing and reevaluating. There are three great Varsity coaches Carrie Tomsion and Christan Baker as well as coach Dull. And between the three of them they have around 80 years of coaching experience combined. They have a structured and disciplined practice and Dull said,” they’re always working on things they need to improve on for the games.” Although they are very talented players, they do need to work on hitting in certain situations, Dull also said, “ we need to improve a little in our fields, and once we work on those things we’ll be good.” Dull also says his team is really gifted and talented and is proud of his team.
