The Batman (2022) is the new DC movie from Warner Brothers which features Robert Pattinson as the new Batman and is directed by Matt Reeves. The Batman opened in movie theaters all around the world (except Russia) on March 4, 2022. On the website Rotten Tomatoes they wrote, “The Batman is not only incredible, it is one of the best Batman films of all time.” The reason DC made another Batman movie is because Batman is one of the most iconic superheroes and the movies make so much money. Even though this most recent movie is three hours long it has so far made $248.5 million dollars in the global box office.  Like  Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman had an incredible opening weekend, bringing in over $120 million according to Rotten Tomatoes.

In the story, Batman ventures into Gotham City’s underworld when a serial killer leaves behind a trail of cyphers. The Batman must solve those cyphers in order to know the true intentions of The Riddler and why he is killing off important officials in Gotham. When Batman solves each riddle, he sees how corrupt the city officials are. He gets help from Catwoman, and from James Gordon to catch The Riddler. Once they catch The Riddler, he reveals that his grand plan is to detonate all the sea gates in Gotham Harbor, which would flood the city. This would force all the citizens into the stadium where they could be safe, then The Riddlers’ followers would shoot them down. Then as in every superhero movie, the hero (Batman) saves the day. 

The reviews online are really good, averaging a 4.7 review, which was close to beating The Dark Knight’s reviews. The actors in the movie are Robert Pattinson(batman), Zoe Kravitz(catwoman),Colin Farrell(penguin), Paul Dano(the riddler), Jeffery Wright(James Gordon), Andy Serkis(Alfred pennyworth), and John Turturro(Carmine Falcone). 

Although the film is three hours long, it doesn’t feel like three hours, because it seems like you are the one trying to solve The Riddler case along with Batman. The movie was very dark and violent with a lot of detective work, which makes sense for a Batman movie because Batman is one of the world’s greatest detectives. The environment for Gotham city alone led to a very dark and grim feeling for the viewer, which is common for Gotham city (the city Batman protects). The story took place mostly in the night time, unlike other batman movies, which makes it unique. This is one of Matt Reeves most anticipated films and he pulled it off making it a very good movie.
