Cypress High School’s girls volleyball team has had an excellent performance so far in the fall 2024-25 season with an overall record of 16-13. This team is coached by Alex Griffiths. “I have improved so much under the guidance of coach Alex,” said Miriam Masanja, middle blocker for girls varsity volleyball.
On October 8, 2024, the varsity team played an away match against La Habra. It was a close game, but in the end, Cypress took the victory in five sets with the score being 3-2. Cypress also wiped out Villa Park in three sets with the final score being 3-0 on October 3rd, 2024.
This year, the varsity team went to Hawaii to play in the Kamehameha tournament. They won a few games but did not succeed in winning the whole tournament. While in Hawaii, the team had a great time bonding. They went sightseeing and saw Rainbow Falls. “It was a pretty good experience,” said Miriam Masanja, “I feel like we got closer because sharing a room really brings out the real person in you.”
This team continues to achieve great things on the court with their talents and strong friendship. Do not forget to support the team and cheer them on at every game.
