The Conjuring franchise is back with its final movie of the series, “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” which was released on September 5, 2025. The movie was a worldwide hit, becoming the biggest global debut ever for a horror movie, according to the Worldwide Box Office. “The Last Rites” perfectly wraps up the series with a spooky atmosphere, sudden jump scares, and a chilling ending with a black screen that says “Based on a true story.”
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” tells the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) who embark on a final mission: helping the Smurl family after their house experiences mysterious and unnatural events. Meanwhile, Ed and Lorraine’s daughter Judy starts to have strange visions, making the two mysterious events the Warrens’ darkest and most personal investigation yet.
“I liked the movie a lot because I like horror movies and it was a lot scarier and more interesting than the first three movies,” said freshman horror movie enthusiast Marcus Illana.
Others agreed that the movie stood out among other horror movies. Freshman Lucia Kim enjoyed the movie because “there was a fun plot, which most horror movies don’t have. It was also based on a true story which helped me learn about history, making the movie very interesting.”
With a mix of suspense, family tension, and jumpscares, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” left viewers around the globe and especially Cypress High students stunned and terrified. Whether you’re a horror movie fan or just someone looking for a thrilling movie to watch, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” is the movie for you.
