One of Cypress’s hardest-working teams this season has been the cross-country team. Being a relatively younger team with only three seniors. They accomplished a lot this season and set themselves up for future success. The team qualified for the CIF and prelims, but Coach Matthew Tweed said, “We felt we were going to finish first or second, so to finish third was a little disappointing.” The training was a little different from recent years with summer practice increased mileage and a higher tempo. Coach Tweed says the athletes have improved a lot and the ones that stepped up the most from the boys’ side were Jonathan Rodriguez, Eliot Yi, and McCovey Jackson, and on the girls’ side Erin Baek, Alexis Higa, and Stephanie Payne.

The morale and excitement the girls showed is always really fun to see, we had a great season and will miss Katherine a lot, but look forward to next year.”
