Cypress High School’s girl’s basketball team has had an impressive start to the new season, playing against Los Al, Pacifica Christian, Sunny Hills, and Marina in their first games. Coach Nathaniel Rivera motivates the team by emphasizing the importance of competition and representing Cypress HS. With a total of 45 girls in the program, the varsity level includes 15 players. Among eight seniors leading the team, captains Isabella Caceres, Lauryn Nakamura, and Sara Shigekawa are playing crucial roles.
Isabella Caceres, a senior captain, is passionate about basketball and leading her team. She expressed the team’s dedication to becoming back-to-back champions and advancing further in CIF, grateful for the opportunity to lead.
The team has already secured victories, defeating Pacifica 60-43 and Tustin 82-47, showcasing their growing strength. Keep an eye out for their upcoming home games.
