Ms. Mixer is our new math 2 and 3 teacher who came from Brookhurst Junior High. She teaches math 2 and 3 in room 201. She said she enjoys teaching higher math levels because she likes “helping students with more challenging topics.”

The math levels are different then what she was teaching at Brookhurst. This is something that makes Cypress different , along with the campus being bigger. She has been teaching math for 13 years. After deciding to become a teacher when she was in college, even though her major was in Business. She was far more interested in math and got a degree. 

Ms. Mixer encourages students to take notes and goes through problems in class, where she calls on students to keep them focused and engaged. Most homework assignments are done online, on McGraw Hill. She also plays a fun game with her students during the beginning of class, called 13. Students form a circle and someone starts off with one, and you can count by threes. If you are the student that says 13 then you are out, and the last student standing gets extra credit.
