Katherine Gerbing Wins Girl’s Golf Empire League Player of the Year

The girls golf team has much to celebrate. According to Coach Lujan, the future of the team looks bright.

Cypress High School’s Girl’s varsity golf team had a great season, coming in second place in Empire League led by sophomore Katherine Gerbing, who won Empire League Player of the Year.

According to Golf coach Michael Lujan, other players honored included, Cristen Legaspi (First team all league) and Tania Maheshwari (2nd team). Lujan added he is very excited for the next golf season, “The future looks bright for the Cypress High School golf program,” he said. Next year, their success is sure to continue, as all three girls are returning to play.

On Cypress Sports Weekly Coach Mark Slevcove stated how he admired Gerbing’s performance, “Just another shout out to Katherine Gerbing, at the Southern California regional at Brookside on Thursday on Veterans Day she played very well. She shot an even par, but missed the cut by just one shot, but a great season for her overall.”
