The Cypress High School Girls Volleyball Varsity team has opened the 2025 season with a 13-9 win to loss record. Cypress took the court against Canyon High School on September 30, 2025 and emerged victorious with a final score of 3-0. Their win against Canyon led them to the top of the Crestview League leaderboard, with a 4-1 record. As the athletes on the court played hard, their teammates on the sideline cheered and chanted to pump up the atmosphere.
The girls share a strong sense of connection and friendship. A goal that many of the girls’ shared for this season was to make it far in CIFs, then to win a CIF title. Many of the girls expressed their goal to win the league and make it into state. The team’s strength of sisterhood helps them communicate and support each other both on and off the court. Senior Miriam Masanja, whose position is middle blocker, said “I like the connections and friendship between [the team]. I think that we are all friends off the court, too.”

Senior Hannah Schoffstall, whose position is setter, talks about the team and the bond she shares with them. “I enjoy my teammates,” she said. “They’re my favorite part.”
Senior Isabella Faro, an outside hitter for the team, said, “Our team strength is how close all of us are, because I feel like it’s easy for us to communicate with each other about stuff we’re doing wrong. I enjoy the girls the most because it makes practice a lot easier and it makes everything more fun.”

“We talk about our goals and how we’re going to perform during the game, and we think about how we can change things from the last game or incorporate stuff we learned from practice,” Faro said, regarding the team’s pre-game mindset.

Freshman Alyssa Niebres, who plays libero for the CHS Girls’ Volleyball Varsity team, goes into games with the mindset of being, “all in there,” and to have fun while also playing competitively. “I enjoy having a bunch of fun with them, especially as a freshman,” she said. The girls continue to take the court this season with commitment and team chemistry, sharing hopes of winning league, state, and CIFs.
