Ms. Lahee An is excited to be the new 9th grade counselor and be able to connect with the students.
One of our new school counselors, Ms. Lahee An is dedicated to helping students with the issues they face, whether they be personal or school related. She is excited to support our class of 2029. When asked why she chose this career, she said, “I’ve always loved working with students and connecting with them on a personal level. Every student has a unique story, and I want to help them feel seen and understood while highlighting the strengths they sometimes don’t even realize they have. For me, the most rewarding part is sharing those experiences with them and watching them grow into the people they’re meant to be.”
Many unsure students walk into an office seeking help. That is why we have counselors like Ms. An to connect with them. Ms. An always tries to motivate the students to reach out to their teachers with concerns. An stated that students’ questions sometimes are unpredictable, but mostly similar. Her opinion on the new freshmen? “They’re full of energy, curiosity, and that perfect mix of excitement and nervousness.” Ms. An wants all students to know this: “My biggest advice is to take it one day at a time and don’t be afraid to ask for help.” Her colleagues are also proud of her work, while still getting to know her. Ms. Kovar, the 9th grade assistant principal said, “Ms. An is knowledgeable with what she does, and she is passionate about helping students.”
Ms. An is dedicated to helping her students when they face challenges, and always encourages them to keep a positive mindset. “Everyone’s figuring things out, even if it doesn’t always seem that way,” said Ms. An. While she is new to our school, she shows a great example to the new freshmen, leading them through high school. Don’t be afraid to reach out, Ms. An said, “I always encourage them to reach out to their teachers, ask questions, and use the resources available to get the support they need.”
