Ms. Henson is a new teacher in the English department this year.
Cypress High School introduced a new teacher to the English department this year. New to teaching, but not to this school, Ms. Halee Henson is a teacher for both 9th and 12th. Although she is young, she teaches with the same amount of empathy and care as her senior coworkers.

After completing her student teaching, Henson started this year as an official teacher, covering Mrs. Crooks’ classes while she is on maternity leave. With her ability to relate with her students, Henson’s teaching style perfectly models empathy, honesty and understanding. “Ms. Henson allows us to be whoever we want, and she doesn’t judge us,” senior Jamie Templanza shared.
Henson understands the students and the school well as a CHS graduate herself. In 2019, Henson graduated from Cypress High School, moved on to Cypress College, and transferred to Cal State Long Beach. After studying sociology and anthropology, she graduated with an AA degree and a bachelor’s degree and moved on to student teaching.
After student teaching last fall under the guidance of Mrs. Taylor, Henson chose to do substitute teaching and eventually became a teacher at Cypress High, where Henson shares, “It’s been very exciting, it’s everything I worked for and more.” Being able to empathize with her students on a deeper level has made her a favorite for many.
